After researching more on the industry and what the role may entail, I found Dixon Wilson and decided to apply. I was attracted by the firm’s broad client base and the different range of services provided. This was an indication of the varied and interesting work that I would be getting involved with. As part of the recruitment process, I completed some numerical tests and had the opportunity to meet various colleagues who were all very approachable and welcoming. I found it particularly helpful to be shown around by a current trainee who was able to help answer my questions and provide an insight into the firm before joining.
In my role so far I have found the wide variety of work to be particularly enjoyable. As I was not sure what aspect of accountancy appealed to me most at the outset, having the opportunity to work on a number of different clients is great and means that no two weeks are the same. This exposure has allowed me to identify the areas I enjoy most while developing a strong foundation across multiple fields.
Trainees are given suitable time to focus on their studies and managers and colleagues are very understanding of the additional work required. This helps to foster a real sense of teamwork at Dixon Wilson where you are encouraged to ask questions and interact with different people.
